Since 2005, James Helmer has photographed for international aid organizations and editorial news agencies, completing assignments in over eighteen countries. His work has ranged from documenting the aftermath of an earthquake in Haiti to child poverty in Cambodia to covering celebrities on the red carpets at major film festivals in Canada, France and the United States.

Though adept at photojournalism, his work explores other media including videography and includes a collection of short films.

James lives in Toronto, Canada. He is the author of one book - No Hunting Without Permission
